Orlando started with MZA in March 2025 as an intermediate mechanical engineer, having started as a graduate engineer with a consultancy in Oxford in 2023. Orlando is gaining experience on a wide range of projects, including custodial, education, commercial, industrial, public and residential schemes, completing designs through all project stages.

Orlando completed a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a master’s degree in Environmental and Energy Engineering. The decision to pursue the master’s degree was driven by a desire to find and apply efficient and low carbon intensity solutions and to reduce the adverse impacts on the environment and climate by applying sustainable engineering practices, employing renewable and low carbon energy options and increasing energy efficiency. Particularly useful and enjoyable components were modules in Energy Efficiency and Management and Low and Zero Carbon Energy Technologies. These provided insight into how much of an effect efficient energy use can have, particularly when combined with LZC technologies, both on a micro and macro scale.
